Projects on improving the population quality in the 2016-2018 period summed up

On 14 Dec, provincial Population and Family Planning Sub-department organized the preliminary sum-up conference of quality improvement projects for the 2016-2018 period and the anniversary meeting Vietnam Population Day (26 Dec).

To implement projects of population quality improvement in 2016-2018 period, Binh Duong continued to carried out 4 projects: control of sex imbalance at birth 2017-2020; Screening for congenital malformations and diseases in the period 2017-2020; Elderly care for the period 2017-2025 and a project to maintain pre-marriage health examination for the period 2017-2020.

In particular, the project to check for birth defects achieved important results, contributing to reducing the rate of deformed children at birth, increasing the rate of children receiving early intervention and treatment of birth diseases or defects. The pre-marriage counseling and health examination model also gained some good results. Up to now, districts, towns and city have implemented and consulted 6,781 young people before marriage. Due to the implementation of the elderly care project, the number of elderly people receiving primary health care in the province is increasing each year, from 16,598 elderly persons in 2016 to 51,910 people elderly persons were examined in 2018...

At the meeting, public servants and collaborators exchanged experiences in population and family planning tasks. On this occasion, Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 5 collectives and 11 individuals; Health Department awarded certificates of merit to many individuals, who made outstanding achievements in activities to improve the population quality in the province in 2016-2018.
