Provincial Buddhist Sangha spends over VND14bln on social charity activities

Early January 6, provincial Buddhist Sangha held a conference to review its activities in 2013 and design orientations for 2014.

Superior Buddhist monk Thich Hue Thong, Permanent Member of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council, Head of Binh Duong provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council said that provincial Buddhist Sangha continued completing many practical and significant programs. In 2013, six pagodas were rebuilt. Provincial Buddhology Junior College granted graduation certificates of the second training course for 192 nuns, monks and opened its 3rd training course from 2013 to 2016.

Especially, provincial Buddhist Sangha last year continued getting involved in social charity activities with a total expense of more than VND14bln.

The conference also defined provincial Buddhist Sangha’s orientations in 2014. On this occasion, provincial Fatherland Front Committee honored 3 collectives and 5 individuals for their excellent performance in social charity activities. 16 collectives and 44 individuals were also honored by provincial Buddhist Sangha for their contributions to Buddhist affairs.
