Provincial health sector to strengthen prevention of dangerous infectious diseases

Implementing Ministry of Health’s directive on deploying infectious disease prevention plan in 2016, from the beginning of the year, provincial Department of Health issued a number of documents directing units, medical facilities in the province to strengthen dangerous infectious disease prevention, especially emerging diseases in the country and internationally.

Accordingly, the Department asked medical facilities to prepare human resources, drugs, treatment plans for promptly responding to epidemic outbreaks. Regarding human resources, from province-level to district-level, the health sector established mobile teams of disease prevention, including 2 provincial teams and 2 district teams. The sector has also deployed propaganda activities to prevent and monitor diseases; specialized training of disease prevention, especially emerging diseases in the country and internationally; ensured carefully handling outbreaks under Circular No. 48/2010 / TT-BYT dated Dec 31st 2010 of the Ministry of Health.

In the first quarter of 2016, the province had 195 new cases of HFMD, an increase of 7 cases over the same period, no deaths; 1,329 new cases of dengue fever, an increase of 814 cases over the same period, no deaths; 9 new cases of malaria, a decrease of 6 cases over the same period, no deaths. Dangerous infectious diseases, such as measles form typhus, measles, A H5N1 influenza, A H7N9 influenza… were not recorded.
