Reality of industrialization and modernization in Binh Duong

On March 11, the central argument council in cooperation with the provincial party committee held a scientific seminar themed “reality of industrialization and modernization in Binh Duong” at the provincial administration center. The seminar was co-steered by Prof. Ph.D Phung Huu Phu, vice chairman of the central argument council and Nguyen Huu Tu, vice secretary of the provincial party committee. Attending the seminar were Tran Van Nam, chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, scientists, heads of scientific research institutions, centers and leaders of some departments, agencies of Binh Duong province and Ho Chi Minh city.

More than 10 topics of delegates were presented at the seminar with contents focusing mainly on 3 issues such as common issues of industrialization, urbanization; reality of industrialization in Binh Duong; reality of urbanization in Binh Duong.

The seminar made clear process of industrialization and modernization in Binh Duong. From an agricutlural province, after near 30 years of renewal and 17 years of re-establishment, Binh Duong has greatly developed on urban and socio-economy. Until now, the entire province has had nearly 29 industrial parks and 8 industrial compounds with the total area of 10.600ha.  

At present, Binh Duong has attracted nearly 17,300 domestic enterprises with the total registered capital of about VND130,000bil and 2,412 foreign projects, capitalized at US$20.66bil. along with spurring industrial development, the local administration has accelerated building of residential and urban areas and synchronously developed technical and social infrastructure facilities. Accordingly, industrialization is an important foundation, contributing to strengthen urban development. Conversely, develped urbanization helps ensure stable and sustainable development of economy. 

Addressing the event, Nguyen Huu Tu, vice secretary of the provincial party committee said that it is essential to draw experiences and rightly assess achievements and shortcomings to orientate new goals of development for the sake of taking Binh Duong into a central city by 2020. The local leaders recorded and collected scientists’ ideas to supplement for documents for submitting to the 10^th provincial party congress.

Prof, Ph.D Phung Huu Phu highly appreciated Binh Duong’s highlighted achievements of implementing industrialization and urbanization process. He said that Binh Duong success of industrialization and urbanization is thanks to right policies. This both is experiences for the local administration and for other provinces and cities nationwide.
