Southeast region leads FDI attraction nationwide

The southeast region (comprising of HCM city, Ba Ria-Vung Tau, Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Tay Ninh and Binh Phuoc) in Q1 2016 attracted additional 246 new FDI projects and 305 extra-ones with total investment capital of US$1.7bln.

With the above result, according to the Foreign Investment Agency under the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the southeast region continued taking the lead nationwide in FDI attraction, occupying 51.6% of newly-licensed projects, 62.5% of extra-ones and 42.2% of total FDI capital during the period.

Most projects concentrated on manufacturing and processing with US$1.29bln, accounting for 76 % of total FDI capital. Water supply-waste treatment ranked second with US$115mln while retail trade took third position with US$105.7mln.
