Strengthening connection to limit impacts on labor and production

Update: 15-07-2023 | 13:09:45

With a province with tens of thousands of enterprises like Binh Duong, especially in the current period when some industries face many difficulties in production, it is inevitable that some disputes between employees and employers on salary, bonus and employment regimes will occur. However, thanks to strengthening connection between the Trade Union, employees and employers, everything is handled quickly, without affecting labor and production.

Harmony of interests ensured

Recently, many workers of G.R.F Company in Tan Uyen city’s Uyen Hung ward have quit their jobs, protesting that the company cut the 13th month salary bonus to 50% in 2023. The reason the company gave was that in the recent months, the company lacked production orders, so the company continuously suffered losses and had to cut expenses. As for the employees, they believed that all workers in the company have worked hard for more than half a year; especially in the context of expensive things like today. Life is difficult, so employees only rely on the 13th month salary to manage. If in 2024, the company still has difficulties, the bonus reduction must be announced in advance...

Over the past time, local authorities, departments, agencies and mass organizations had many activities to take care of workers with extremely difficult circumstances. In picture: Nguyen Truong Nhat Phuong, Vice-Chairwoman of provincial People's Council visits and gives gifts for workers of Chi Hung Shoes Co., Ltd. in Tan Uyen city on the occasion of the Workers’Month 2023

After the incident happened, provincial Trade Union officials proactively coordinated with the local authorities, relevant departments and sectors directly came to the company and joined hands with workers to negotiate with the company’s directorate to resolve the situation thoroughly and reasonably. As a result, all workers have returned to work with salaries and bonuses in 2023 that remain unchanged.

Along with resolving the benefits of harmony between employees and employers, over the past time, the local authorities at all levels coordinated very well and flexibly when a company unfortunately fell into a difficult situation and announced its dissolution. In early 2021, after the Tet (Lunar New Year) festival, hundreds of workers of D.S.F Co., Ltd. at Ben Cat town-based Rach Bap Industrial Park came back to work when they heard that the company announced its dissolution. Earlier, they were not informed about this by the company, so they were very confused. Immediately, Trade Union at all levels coordinated with provincial Industrial Parks Management Board, Ben Cat town’s Division of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs to get involved in the situation. D.S.F Company then strictly followed the instructions of legal procedures upon dissolution, paying full wages to employees in accordance with the signed labor contract. In a short time, hundreds of workers were connected by provincial Labor Union to enterprises in Ben Cat town to work, ensuring their income and stabilizing their lives.

Enhancing connection

In order to minimize such cases, provincial trade unions at all levels coordinated with authorities at all levels to take good care of workers' lives in many ways over the past time. Not only organizing visits, giving gifts, taking care of each bus and train trip with a cost of tens of billions of dong per year for workers, localities and units also connected and implement throughout with funds to support unfortunate employees suffering from illness, occupational accidents; take care of accommodation by working with enterprises to build hundreds of thousands of low-cost social houses.

Along with that, provincial Labor Union mobilizes organizations and individuals to build many houses for workers, donate health insurance cards, take care of orphans who are children of employees; coordinated with provincial Department of Labor - Invalids and Social Affairs to review, recruit and arrange jobs every year. The unit also cooperates with the local authorities and police agencies to organize many thematic talks with employees at lodging facilities, enterprises...

In particular, strengthening dialogues with employees and enterprises has always been concerned by trade unions at all levels in order to connect workers with enterprises so that they have a common voice. Workers can feel secure in production. Tran Ngoc Vinh, Chairwoman of Thien Nam Investment and Development Joint Stock Company’s Trade Union local in Di An city shared: “Every year, under the direction of the superior trade union, the company's trade union not only creates movements and models to take good care of employees' lives in both material and spiritual terms, but also acts as a bridge between employers and employees. Particularly, when enterprises are facing difficulties and doing business at a loss, trade unions at all levels must be responsible to protect the interests of employees in accordance with regulations, but accompany employers to overcome immediate difficulties and share benefits harmoniously”.

As noted, since early 2023, province-based enterprises in the wood, garment, footwear and leather industries have encountered difficulties in orders, leading to the moderate operation. There have been many businesses reducing production and labor. This may potentially lead to a labor dispute in the near future. Nguyen Kim Loan, Chairwoman of provincial Labor Union said: “Provincial Trade Unions at all levels always share and accompany trade unionists and employees, especially in the current difficult period. Provincial Labor Union hopes that trade unionists and employees share difficulties with enterprises. If enterprises can maintain production and business, employees will have jobs and stable incomes. When facing problems, enterprises should actively inform trade unionists  and employees soon. The Trade Union is always ready to act as a bridge to help employees and enterprises set up harmonious and stable relationships.
