Tan Uyen reviews work of Red Cross movement

On Jan. 3, Tan Uyen district Red Cross society held a summing up conference on the 2013 work of Red Cross movement and set out orientation and task for 2014.In the past year, Tan Uyen district Red Cross Society at all levels newly developed more than 2,40 members, totaling the entire district's members up to more than 33,000, operating at 62 grassroot levels. The Red Cross at all levels maintained and implemented effectively voluntary organizations, clubs and teams. The locality's social work was also focused strongly. With the money of VND6bil, Tan Uyen district Red Cross society granted more than 5,200 gift packages to poor people on Tet holidays; donated 800 scholarships, uniforms, learning aids and 14 bikes to needy pupils; helped more than 730 members enjoy loans in service for production and business and homebased development; built 8 charity houses for the poor.In addition, the society's volunteer blood donation and humanitarian health check up and treatment were focused sharply. As a result, the society collected more than 1,160 unit of blood and 18,250 cases enjoyed health check up and 277 others enjoyed free eye surgeries.On this occasion, Tan Uyen district Red Cross society granted insignia for the cause of Vietnam Red Cross to 6 excellent individuals involving in humanitarian activities whilst 47 collectives and 156 individuals enjoyed merit certificates.Reported by T.Phat - Translated by A.C
