Thanh Phuoc Port contributes to reducing enterprises’ cargo transport cost

Thanh Phuoc Port Joint Stock Company officially put Thanh Phuoc Port into operation today, May 9. The operation of the inland river port is of great significant and creates favorable conditions for the goods transport of enterprises operating in Binh Duong and in the vinicity.

Construction on schedule

Construction work on April 22, 2010 was started on the inland river port of Thanh Phuoc in Thanh Phuoc village, Tan Uyen district, Binh Duong province by three founding shareholders: Binh Duong Construction and Investment Joint Stock Company (BICONSI), Nam Tan Uyen Industrial Park Joint Stock Company, and U&I Logistics Company (U&I Logistics).

The port’s construction site covers 63 hectares, comprising 16 wharves with a total investment capital of VND1450 billion ($76.31 million). The port is able to accommodate ships and barges of 1,000-2,000dwt. It is constructed to international standards, of the third generation in conformity with modern international port system regulations, and the port project is divided into two phases. 

Once operational, Thanh Phuoc Port will facilitate the cargo transport of enterprises in Binh Duong and in the vicinity.

The port of phase I has a building area of 25 hectares with a total investment capital of VND780 billion ($41.05 million) comprising eight wharves, roads, storage facilities and cargo handling equipment. Once the investment is completed, the cargo handling capacity of this phase is 2.5 million tons/year Investment time is from 2010 to 2014.

Thanh Phuoc Port’s phase II has a total construction area of 28 hectares comprising 8  wharves, a waste water treatment system and other auxiliary facilities at a total cost of VND610 billion ($32.1 million). Construction time is from 2014 to 2018. When its two phases are completed, the port will be able to handle five million tons of cargo/year.

Facilitating enterprises’ cargo transport

Binh Duong is a province in the Southern Key Region with a large proportion of imports and exports. It is also an important gateway connecting Tay Ninh, Binh Phuoc…with central Highlands provinces.

Hence, Thanh Phuoc Port, once operational, will help increase the circulation of goods by water, it will especially help with easing the transport of goods by road, contributing positively to reducing road traffic congestion, and by the same token, will help transport companies and importers and exporters operating in Binh Duong province and neighboring provinces to cut spending.

The investment in and construction of Thanh Phuoc Port will open opportunities for rapid  and sustainable socioeconomic development of Binh Duong province. This port project not only boosts development, helps with investment attraction, but also changes the face of the province, thus representing the province’s vision and determination to proceed with the process of industrialization and modernization…
