With many practical and meaningful activities, the city Red Cross has well taken care of the lives of extremely difficult and poor households, the elderly, orphans, and workers in the area. Doan Thi Thu Hong, Chairwoman of Thu Dau Mot city Red Cross, said that in order to perform the work well, the city Red Cross has received the support, contribution and companionship of many petitions over the past time of businesses, religious organizations and individuals in the area.

Through humanitarian and social charity activities, Thu Dau Mot city Red Cross has promoted its role, connected resources in society actively contributed to social security work, implementing social activities. Currently, the city has successfully achieved political tasks of the city including the campaign of "Each organization and individual attaches to a humanitarian address" based on which every month, many poor households, lonely elderly people, people with disabilities, children in difficult circumstances etc. have been sponsored and have more conditions to improve a part of their lives. Recently, the model of "VND-0 market" has also received the attention, cooperation and sharing with disadvantaged people of many units, organizations and benefactors. People who are supported to go to the market are those in difficult circumstances, the elderly, orphans, lottery ticket sellers, difficult workers. In 2020-2022, the Red Cross at all levels in the city have organized 71 market sessions with a total value of nearly VND 4.8 billion.

Le Minh Hoang, representative of Thien Minh Charity Group in Phu Loi ward, said that since its establishment, almost every session of the "VND-0 Market" organized by the city Red Cross has participated. The contributions of members and benefactors, on average, each month is from 150-250kg of vegetables and fruits. Besides, on the full moon day of every month, the group also organizes to cook and distribute vegetarian food to about 300-400 people. Hoang said: “Humanitarian and social charity activities are carried out by the city Red Cross very meaningful to directly give to those in need of support. We will continue to maintain the support to contribute to the association's motivation to help disadvantaged people rise up."

Continual promotion

Along with the attention and direction of the city's leaders, the contribution of resources from units, businesses, organizations, and benefactors, in order to well perform humanitarian work, each member of the Red Cross in the area of Thu Dau Mot city are aware that social charity work is the role and responsibility of humanitarian and social charity workers, and a bridge to help disadvantaged people who need help step by step to rise up in life. Since then, each activity and movement launched has received the joint effort and unanimous implementation of officials and members.

The results of mobilizing resources to carry out humanitarian activities over the past time have clearly proven this. In 2020-2022, thanks to the active mobilization of officials and members, the Red Cross at all levels in Thu Dau Mot city has carried out many volunteer activities with a total value of more than VND 23.3 billion. In addition, the city Red Cross is also supported by the provincial Red Cross with funds and goods worth VND 4,455 billion to help disadvantaged people in the area.

With many meaningful and practical activities, Thu Dau Mot city Red Cross has made many innovations and creativity in operating methods, thereby mobilizing the humanitarian strength of all levels, branches and mass organizations and attract a large number of people from all walks of life to participate in the meaningful activity. Doan Thi Thu Hong said that promoting the achieved results, in the coming time, the city Red Cross will continue to innovate the content and mode of operation in the direction of promoting socialization and promoting its core role well acting as a bridge in charity and humanitarian activities to help the poor and disadvantaged people to alleviate some of their difficulties in life, contributing to the good implementation of social security work in the locality.
