After 10 years of implementing the youth summer volunteer campaign, Thuan An district’s youths made a lot of significant activities for sake of public welfare.

Particularly, they worked out 70 youth works, upgraded 2,800 meters of rural roads, cleared 105,200 meters of river, planted 2,925 various trees, kept order and security on model roads worth nearly VND190mln, mobilized to build and hand over to 26 compassion and gratitude houses worth VND125mln…

 

The local youths also paid attention to taking care of disadvantaged children and street ones via many substantial activities such as opening and maintaining charity classes for them; raising funds to offer scholarships, bicycles, notebooks…for poor-but-excellent pupils with a total expense of VND137mln.

 

The whole district now has 13 voluntary youth squads with nearly 400 members. Le Minh Duc, deputy chief of the district’s Youth Union said that through voluntary activities, provincial Youth Union’s sub-unions and clubs saw improvement in operational quality. There also appeared many exemplary role-models in the local youth activities.

 

Over the past 10 years, the district’s Youth Union and its affiliates provided VND200mln in loan from the 120 Plan to develop homebased business; generated jobs for 1,126 youths, including 183 demobees; donated 20 saving books worth VND40mln to needy households. Provincial Youth Union also teamed up with the Global Care organization to set up 4 legal bookcases in Binh Hoa commune, issue 5,000 lifestyle handbooks, disseminate the evils of drug abuse and prostitution to youths…

 

In addition, the district’s Youth Union and its affiliates attached special importance to organizing many entertainment activities for youths such as folk games, singing contests…These activities contributed to promoting the task of gathering youths over the past time, affirmed Mr.Duc.

 

Upholding achievements done, Thuan An district’s youths will further work out more substantial works via the youth summer volunteer campaign, contributing to building of a more prosperous and beautiful Thuan An.
