The first gift visit started after passing over 100km of road to alone elders in the two communes of An Thanh and Long Thuan in Ben Cau District, Tay Ninh Province.
The gifts were not a great deal but were welcome by local people who received instant noodle, mosquito nets, spice, and food and more than that – the heart.
To come is to see. They are ending their life in lonesome. Some are lucky to be visited frequently by their children, others are in bad luck.
“I gave birth to nine children but now I am alone. They grew up and got married. The youngest one recently leave me behind to take care of his own family. His wife didn’t want to share the appartment with me,” said Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hia, 86, living in Ben Cau District.
“We contributed little by litte to bring gifts to them as action of sharing up difficulties but no other purposes. Thus, their happiness is ours too,” said Mrs. Huynh Thi Ngoc Lan from Ho Chi Minh City, a member of the mentioned charity drive.
January 8-18 charity gift event marks the 12th year of “Tet for the poor” drive as confirmed by Mrs. Tran Thi Lien, Chairwoman of Provincial Red Cross. The gifts are promotive to them.
The traditional Tet holiday is coming and those meaningful gifts will actually bring up joy and happiness in sharing manners. For such meaning, a warm spring is on the way.
