Towards smart new rural areas

In 2023, Phu Giao district strives to complete the dossiers to be submitted to the provincial authority and the central government so as to be recognized as meeting the newly enhanced rural standards. In order to accomplish the planned goals, the district continues to focus on implementing many key tasks and solutions right from the beginning of the year.

Thanks to the construction of a new countryside, investments have quite synchronously diverted to the socio-economic infrastructure of the rural area of Phu Giao district

  The positive changes

In 2018-2020, Phu Giao district has implemented advanced new rural construction in localities; at the same time, integrated and taken advantage of infrastructure investment resources to raise criteria for new rural areas, especially infrastructure for agricultural production such as irrigation and intra-field traffic from public investment capital of the province, districts and localities. In which, infrastructure and cultural institutions in the area have been basically built and completed in the multi-purpose direction such as traffic, irrigation, and cultural houses.

Up to now, all 10 communes of the district have met the new rural commune standard, of which, 7 have been recognized as meeting the new advanced rural standards. The economic life of communes meeting the newly enhanced rural standards has more positive changes. According to the plan, in 2021-2025, Phu Giao district will successfully build a model new rural commune. Particularly, the remaining 3 communes of An Binh, Tam Lap, and Phuoc Hoa strive to achieve new and improved rural areas as soon as possible. In 2023, the district strives to complete the dossiers to be submitted to the provincial authority and the central government to be recognized as meeting the newly enhanced rural standards.

It can be said that, thanks to the construction of a new rural area, the district's socio-economic infrastructure has been invested quite synchronously. The material and spiritual life of people in the district has been improved. Per capita income in rural areas in 2022 was VND 73 million.

For agricultural production, the application of high technology and organic and safe production processes has become the inevitable direction of Phu Giao district. In addition to the An Thai High-tech Agricultural Park and the dairy farming area in Phuoc Sang commune, more than 300 agricultural production facilities applying high-tech have been established. Many such models have brought great economic values with profits increased by 30-40%. Currently, the district has developed 4 more products that have achieved One Commune One Product (OCOP) from 3 stars to 4 stars and documents are being evaluated for the next 5 potential OCOPs.

Towards smart models

It can be said that the achievement of building a new countryside is the foundation for Phu Giao district to build a smart village. At the same time, the advantages of high-tech agricultural production and natural and cultural tourism resources allow Phu Giao district to develop high-tech agricultural tourism. Van Quang Chinh – Deputy Chairman of Phu Giao district People's Committee, said that the agricultural and rural economic results achieved in recent years have created a sufficient foundation for Phu Giao district to deploy the smart village model towards building standards for smart new rural communes while ensuring creative new rural construction towards the goal of sustainable rural development. Besides, the advantages of high-tech agricultural production and natural and cultural tourism resources allow the district to develop high-tech agricultural tourism. The development of high-tech agricultural tourism on the basis of smart villages will create a premise towards construction standards for smart new rural communes.

It is known that the overall goal of socio-economic development in 2021-2030 with a vision to 2050 of Phu Giao district focus on promoting the development of high-tech agriculture by actively calling for investment in industrial development. In which, industry serving agricultural production is combined with promoting trade and services. In addition, the district also focuses on comprehensive development of cultural and social fields while recovering and developing socio-economic status, ensuring national defense and security to soon build Phu Giao district into a rural district of new enhancement, model, and sustainable development.

Doan Van Dong - Chairman of Phu Giao district People's Committee, said that in order to achieve the goal in 2023 the district achieves the newly enhanced rural standards, the district People's Committee has implemented 12 key tasks and solutions, which is to focus on launching, propagating and disseminating the objectives and requirements of building a new advanced rural area and a model new rural area; thereby, raising awareness for cadres, CPV members and people about the purpose, meaning, importance and plan of specific content, goals and tasks of the emulation movement of "all people unite to build a cultural life in residential areas” in association with the new rural construction program in the district. The media agencies of the district and commune plan to step up the propaganda and education, open the columns and increase the propaganda time in order to discover, praise and multiply new and effective ways of doing things and advanced examples of emulation in building advanced new rural areas and model new rural areas. In addition, the district organizes training and refresher courses on management knowledge, and directs the construction of new rural areas for officials and civil servants participating in the construction of enhanced new rural areas and model new rural areas, organizes visits to learn from experience in directing the implementation of new rural construction in key communes inside and outside the province.
