On the occasion of the 131st anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh’s birthday (May 19, 1890 - May 19, 2021), provincial People's Committee held a ceremony to launch the "tree-planting festival" themed “Forever grateful to Uncle Ho” on the morning of May 19 at Bau Bang district’s Martyrs' Cemetery.

Attending the ceremony were Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly Deputy Delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Nguyen Van Loc, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of provincial Fatherland Front Committee; Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Propaganda and Education; Nguyen Thanh Truc, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee, together with leaders of provincial departments, sectors, mass organizations and Bau Bang district.
At the ceremony, provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (DoARD) reported the local results of planting trees over the past time. Accordingly, in 2020, the province planted more than 63,000 various green trees, equivalent to 151.4 hectares of forest. Of these, 13,000 trees were planted by districts, towns and cities and the remainder by Becamex IDC. In 2021, the whole province is expected to plant additional 103,700 green trees.
Speaking at the ceremony, Mr. Truc emphasized: “Implementing President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching of "For the sake of ten years of planting trees, for the benefit of one hundred year of cultivating people", the local Party, government and people have always determined that afforestation and tree planting are an important task associated with the comprehensive development process of the province, not only for today but also for future generations. In the coming time, provincial DoARD will continue having good coordination with relevant units to advise provincial People's Committee on well implementing the contents of the project "Planting one billion trees in the 2021-2025 period" across the country, approved by the Prime Minister". The local Party committees, authorities, departments, sectors, Fatherland Front Committees and mass organizations at all levels will continue better doing propaganda, raising awareness for each cadre, Party member and people about the purpose and meaning of the tree planting festival; creating a widespread movement of "households plant trees, people plant trees, all people participate in planting trees and creating forests" in association with green and sustainable economic development, minimizing the impacts of climate change to make the local scenery, environment more beautiful”.
After the launching ceremony, delegates participated in planting trees at Bau Bang district’s Martyrs ‘Cemetery.
