Currently, 6 temples are located in 6 hamlets of Bach Dang Commune in Tan Uyen District. The mentioned temples have been worshiping place and shelter for our armed force in the two resistance wars against French colony and US Army. Rituals are organized to remember martyrs at Tan Trach Temple 152 sons of the land have fallen for the everlasting green and peace of their homeland.To make tributes and remember them, their names have been taken to the worshiping list of the 6 temples.Thus, annually on July 27 (Vietnamese Martyrs’ Day) ceremonies are held at those temples.Tan Trach Temple is located at Hamlet 3 of Bach Dang Commune. Built in 1854, the 150-year temple covering over 2,380 m2 has witnessed plenty of historical events of the land.Being renovated in 2003, the temple has retained its structure of 22 pillars and anti-drooping roof. Tan Trach Temple was originally for worshiping ancestors and local gods and now with addition of 43 martyrs.From the front gate to the left is the mountain god (tiger) statue of 0.8m height, 1m wide, and 1.2m long. Next to its is the place of 9 gods or the central hall. The temple yard is relatively wide d open to fresh air.Beside its structural beauty, Tan Trach Temple holds major historical value of revolutionary movements ever since resistance war against the French colony who occupied the place in 1945 to convert it into station of public terror. By 1966, the temple was retrieved from US Army in an uprising.“In the days of resistance war against the US Army, the temple was the place for our soldiers along side of spiritual worshiping. Thus, the temple has become memory of heroic fighting days,” said Mr. Vo Van Son, son to martyr Nguyen Van Noc, now a member to ritual council of the temple.Tan Trach Temple has been ranked as provincial historical remain and become the only temple of the most valuable historical marks. From 2005, local people chose July 27 as the ritual day to remember the martyrs sacrificed themselves for nation independence.The worshiping of martyrs at Tan Trach Temple was initiated the two brothers Le Hoang Huan and Le Hoang Phuong – the participants in fierce battles and witnesses of fallen comrades for liberty.Responding to the initiation, Bach Dang Commune People’s Committee has chose July 27 as the major ritual day to remember martyrs in temples ever since 2005. Accordingly, from 2005 to 2012 the local committee has contributed VND 500,000 annually to each temple for the rituals. Now, in 2013, the contribution has been increased to VND 1 million. “The rituals are a way of remembering martyrs and educating younger generations of such sacrifices from peace,” said Mr. Nguyen Thanh Minh, an officer of cultural and social affairs in Bach Dang Commune.Reported by T.
