Today, Binh Duong Newspaper celebrates the 45th founding anniversary of Song Be Newspaper - Binh Duong Newspaper (December 1, 1976 - December 1, 2021). On this occasion, Binh Duong Newspaper had an interview with Truong Thi Bich Hanh, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of provincial Party Committee’s Commission for Education and Propaganda to more clearly see the role and contributions of the newspaper to the local development as well as its tasks in the coming time.

- Madam, it can be said that during the process of formation and development, Song Be Newspaper (now being Binh Duong Newspaper) has well performed its function as the organ of provincial Party Committee, the voice of the Party Committee, government and people in the province. Can you evaluate more specifically the role and contributions of Binh Duong Newspaper to the local overall development?

After the South was completely liberated, the Party Committee of Song Be province directed to soon set up a newspaper of provincial Party Committee to perform the function of the voice of the local Party Committee, government and people’s forum. On December 1, 1976, Song Be provincial Party Committee issued a decision to establish Song Be Newspaper, which is now known as Binh Duong Newspaper.

Looking back the development process of Song Be Newspaper - Binh Duong Newspaper, it can be seen that the newspaper has always determined and maintained the principles and purposes of the Party newspaper, always adhered to the guidelines, and directions of the Party and State, well performing the function of propaganda and opportunely disseminating the Party's guidelines, the State’s policies and laws to people from all strata. The key and breakthrough contents in each period were propagandized boldly and opportunely; honestly and objectively reflected the local industrialization and modernization process, greatly contributing to making public opinion orientation, social criticism, raising people's intellectual level, accompanying, making active and effective contributions to the local common development.

Especially, over the past time, Binh Duong Newspaper made many efforts to innovate in terms of content and form in order to better perform its role and function as well as meeting readers’ needs for information in the new situation. Its presentation, information content, illustration etc. were all innovative in the style of modern journalism and multimedia. The Party Committee and Editorial Board of Binh Duong Newspaper paid much attention to training, improving professional skills, political education, ethics and lifestyle among officials, reporters and employees to ensure the good performance of role, function and task in the new period.

Possibly seeing that under the pen of journalists, the province's socio-economic development was showed in a true, clear and vivid way, reflecting the fields of social life in the renewal and international integration process in a multi-dimensional way. The newspaper focused on disseminating the Party's guidelines and resolutions, the local achievements on socio-economic development; studied and followed Ho Chi Minh's thought, morality and lifestyle; fought against corruption and negativity; refuted false and hostile claims; protected the ideological foundation of the Party; spread typical examples through patriotic emulation movements…

The newspaper’s reporters followed the grassroots to promptly reflect people's thoughts and aspirations. In particular, during the last Covid-19 outbreak period, Binh Duong Newspaper’s staff did not stop making efforts to overcome difficulties to participate in pandemic prevention and control propaganda and was one of the local frontline forces in the fight against the pandemic, thereby showing a sense of responsibility and commitment of Binh Duong Newspaper’s staff, deserving to be honored.

- In order to better perform its role, function and task and act as a bridge between the Party's will and the people in the province, what are the requirements for Binh Duong Newspaper in the coming time, madam?

In order to well perform the assigned tasks, deserving to be a pioneer soldier on the Party’s ideological - cultural front, leaders, officials and reporters of Binh Duong Newspaper must always maintain the virtues of "Bright mind - Clear heart - Sharp pen" in the coming time. Binh Duong Newspaper should promote propaganda of the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws to people from all strata; strengthen writings opportunely encouraging outstanding individuals and collectives in order to spread human values ​​in social life; actively, fully and objectively reflect on issues and events of public concern and issues arising at grassroots level so that all-level Party committees and authorities consider, resolve them in a timely and satisfactory manner while promoting its pivotal role in protecting the ideological foundation of the Party, fighting against false views and claims of hostile forces in the new situation...

In order to well perform the assigned political tasks, Binh Duong Newspaper needs to constantly innovate in terms of propaganda contents and forms suitable to the situation, task requirements and each specific object in the society; convey information to readers in a way that is attractive, vivid and spreads more strongly; step by step invest in material facilities and technical means; strongly exploited and applied information technology, contributing to improving the quality and efficiency of propaganda work. The unit’s staff and reporters must continue studying and training, constantly improving their professional qualifications, political theory and professional ethics.

The 4th industrial revolution is developing strongly. The digital transformation cause is profoundly impacting on press and communication activities so Binh Duong newspaper’s staff need to continue improving their professional skills, revolutionary ethical virtues to keep pace with the development trend of modern journalism; strictly follow the principles and purposes of the local Party newspaper, significantly contributing to the process of building up a more and more civilized and modern Binh Duong.
