Vietnam, Laos look forward to successful Party Congress

 Vietnam President Truong Tan Sang met with visiting Lao Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong on July 18 at the Presidential Palace and congratulated him on a successful visit.

President Sang stressed that frequent meaningful and effective visits are an invaluable asset that serve to nurture the traditional relations of friendship and solidarity between the two nations.

 

Sang applauded the Lao PM for his nation’s economic accomplishments over the past five years, saying GDP growth in Laos has been one of the highest in ASEAN and that has contributed greatly to increasing the standard of living for its people.

Sang assured his guest that Vietnam stands ready to work with Laos to jointly cherish and safeguard the friendship, substantially enhance mutual trust and continuously boost comprehensive strategic cooperation.

In 2015, as both countries prepare for the Party Congress, Sang said he looks forward to frequent meetings to exchange experience and of ideas to organize a successful Party Congress.

The Lao PM thanked President Sang for the gracious welcome and expressed his appreciation for Vietnam’s socio-economic achievements, which have lifted millions out of poverty and enhanced the lives their standard of living.

“The achievements of Vietnam serve as valuable lessons for the Laotian government to model itself after in building and developing its country,” the Lao PM said.
