Warmness of 18th provincial mid-autumn festival for disadvantaged pupils, students and children

Provincial Children’s Support Fund Council yesterday coordinated with sectors, departments, mass organizations and provincial Radio-Television Station to organize the 18th provincial mid-autumn festival for poor-but-excellent pupils, students and needy children. The event was attended by Tran Van Nam, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Head of provincial National Assembly deputy delegation; Nguyen Hoang Thao, Permanent Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Tran Thanh Liem, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee, Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; representatives of sectors, departments, mass organizations, districts, towns and TDM city; representatives of businesses together with more than 1,000 local pupils, students and children with difficult circumstances.

Warm festival

On the afternoon of September 11, more than 1,000 poor pupils, students and children gathered at provincial Convention and Exhibition Center to attend the festival. They also took part in an art performance competition themed “School age” on the morning of the same day. Many special art items on mid-autumn festival were performed, leaving good impressions on participating children.

Provincial Children’s Support Fund Council offered 1,062 mid-autumn gifts, 273 scholarships, 25 bicycles, 18 sets of computers to needy student, pupils and children together with 25 long-term support packages for pupils with good academic results in the 2018-2019 academic year with a total expense of more than VND2billion. They were beloved gifts from provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and donors for disadvantaged students, pupils and children. It is known that donors supported VND3.4billion for the festival. In 2019, they will spend VND 9.5billion on further taking care of the local extremely difficult children.

The festival was also a chance for provincial Children’s Support Fund to mark its 20-year development. During the past time, the festival created a motivation for thousands of poor pupils, students and children to further nurture their dream going to school. Nguyen Anh Duong, a pupil from Bau Bang district said that she felt very happy when being offered a bicycle at the festival. She promised to try harder in learning in order to reciprocate the sentiment and attention of the local leaders.

Diverse care activities for disadvantaged children

Provincial Children’s Support Fund implemented a variety of significant activities during the past 20 years. Particularly, the fund donated 6,856 scholarships, 13 sets of computers, more than 1,000 bicycles to poor-but-excellent pupils with a total cost of more than VND10billion; awarded 157 long-term support packages worth VND2billion to children with risk dropping out of school; supported children with heart surgery, fatal illness; offered gifts to children on Tet and great holidays with a total expense of approximately VND32billion.

Coming to the festival, Soichi Hanano, General Director of GS Battery Co.Ltd. said that this was one of significant activities, aiming to give strength for poor-but-excellent pupils. The company will always accompany the festival in the next years.

In a joyful atmosphere of the festival, Le Minh Quoc Cuong, Director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs affirmed that the festival expressed the attention of provincial Party Committee, People’s Council, People’s Committee, Fatherland Front Committee and donors for poor-but-excellent children. Along with the festival, on this occasion, leaders of authorities at all levels of the province also organized many activities taking care of children, especially ones with difficult circumstances. All aimed to make their dream come true and contributed to realizing children’s basic rights.

Addressing the festival, Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee stressed that Binh Duong is a fast growing locality, absorbing a large number of immigrant laborers. To ensure social welfare, the province over the past time spent great expenditure on taking care of extremely difficult people, including children. The annual festival was the great encouragement for children, helping them surmount difficulties and rise up in life.

On behalf of provincial leaders, Mr.Hung thanked entrepreneurs and donors for their efforts in accompanying the festival during the past 20 years while wanting that they will continue making contributions to disadvantaged people.
