Workshop on minimally invasive techniques in urolithiasis treatment held

With the goal of approaching advanced treatment methods, on the morning of April 8, provincial General Hospital held a seminar on “minimally invasive techniques in urolithiasis treatment”.

The surgery at provincial General Hospital is being performed online by surgeons for training

The event was attended by Nguyen Loc Ha, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice-Chairman of provincial People's Committee; Assoc. Prof. - Dr. Le Dinh Khanh, Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Urology and Nephrology, Deputy Director of the Hospital of Hue University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

This is the largest workshop in Binh Duong ever, bringing together many leading experts specializing in urological surgery in 3 regions of the country from Binh Dan Hospital, Cho Ray Hospital, Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Hue Central Hospital, 108 Military Central Hospital, 4th Army Corps Hospital, Binh Duong provincial General Hospital. Especially, the program was broadcast live from the operating room of Binh Duong provincial General Hospital to the hall, witnessing surgical experts on difficult and complicated cases.

Speaking at the workshop, Assoc. Prof. - Dr. Nguyen Lan Hieu, Director of Hanoi Medical University Hospital, Director of Binh Duong provincial General Hospital shared: "Vietnam is considered as a country with the highest incidence of kidney stones. High-tech lithotripsy is a breakthrough in urolithiasis treatment to help clean stones quickly, safely and minimize the risk of disease recurrence. Achieving a high success rate and minimizing complications is not easy even if we have all equipment. Therefore, sharing knowledge from leading experts and major surgical centers is extremely necessary. The knowledge gained today is priceless.”

After the opening session of the workshop,  a surgical program for training with the following techniques: retrograde flexible ureterorenoscopy and laser lithotripsy and percutaneous renal lithotripsy was organized. The workshop also had many valuable speeches, namely the treatment of complicated urinary infections; technique probing renal calyces without contrast under C-Arm guidelines…
