Writing contest encourages disabled people to start career

Update: 13-10-2012 | 00:00:00

A writing contest was launched in Hanoi on October 12 to help Vietnamese people with disabilities advance their career prospects.

The event, co-organised by the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Vietnam Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA), was inspired by International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The writing contest aims to raise public awareness of the responsibility to help disabled people sustainably escape poverty by organising vocational training courses tailored to their needs. It also calls for organizations and businesses to give a helping hand to the disabled.

The contest’s participants have an opportunity to tell their personal stories and express gratitude for the valuable support offered by their families and the wider community.

Entries should be submitted to the organising board by November 15, 2012.

Winners will be announced and awarded at a ceremony in Hanoi, scheduled for early December to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (December 3).
