On July 15th 1950, Volunteer Youth (VY) organization was founded by President Ho Chi Minh. After 63 years, current forces of VY continue to contribute to national development. Former VYs were happy at the get-together The magnificent historyOn July 12th morning, more than 300 former VYs and provincial VY organization attended a get-together Cultural Center of Phu Giao district. Chairman of Elderly Association of Dinh Thanh commune (Dau Tieng district) Mr. Do Xuan Tin came early and remembered: “As a teenager, I participated in VY organization, namely at C409, P37 team, Thanh Hoa province and then team 75, construct board 67, Quang Binh province. My most unforgettable battle was on November 20th 1967, when 30 soldiers combated 24 U.S. planes. This battle destroyed 3 planes, also killed some comrades. This thing is to remind young generation that ancestors fulfilled duties in spite of difficult circumstances. Thus, I hope that young people always study and follow this”.Former VY at Ben Cat district Ms. Le Thi Hanh said emotionally, she joined the 12th VY organization – Phu Loi servicing Regiment 1, Division 9. In battle of Bau Bang and Can Le in 1966, planes and tanks dropped bombs on us, many soldiers were injured, VY forces went also to the front. There were a few people having severe malaria but still determined to struggle. In the evening, she and some comrades carried without a break wounded soldiers to the front surgical station. On this occasion, she was so happy as seeing old comrades after many years of separation.Preparation for the youthAccording to President Ho Chi Minh’s teaching of “The great school – VY”, provincial VY force has accomplished assigned tasks like: training and vocational teaching for youths; providing of public services; carrying out community-based programs; creating jobs for people after rehabilitation, demobilized soldiers, unemployed young people; participating in scio-economic development projects; setting up defense reserve forces…Nguyen Hoang Bao of provincial VY organization said: “Now I’m leader of the 1st provincial line team of Safe Traffic squad affiliated by provincial VY. Former VYs taught me to be careful about talking as communicating with people. Our work is has to coordinate with traffic police to capture violating vehicles. To extremist people, we need to behave more cleverly not to affect negatively the good picture of VY forces”.Today, VY organization attempts to complete duties of training young people, and become effective unit of Communist Youth Union (CYU). Deputy Secretary of provincial CYU, Head of VY Mr. Pham Hong Thang shared: “Youths always expect encouragements, education of former generation including the important role of VY forces. I suggest, CYU organizations at all levels implement well the paying debts of gratitude, caring of difficult former VYs, facilitate activities of Former VY associations, coordinate to promote former VYs’ role in education of ideology, revolutionary tradition for young people”.Heroic traditional history is the pride of every Vietnamese and necessary preparation for youths to enter life.
