Customers at the 2018 provincial market-day of safe agricultural products

As surveyed, most agricultural products at Binh Dien wholesale market in Thu Dau Mot city’s Phu Hoa ward come from neighboring regions and there are few local products. This is because the price of the province’s agricultural products is higher than other localities. Particularly, green skin-pomelo (class 1) at the market is sold at VND30,000-VND35,000 per kg; king orange (class 1) at VND12,000-VND15,000 per kg; vegetables at VND10,000-VND12,000 per kg…Whilst, Hieu Liem green-skin pomelo (class 1) costs VND50,000 per kg; king orange at VND30,000 per kg; vegetables at VND20,000 per kg at the 2018 provincial market-day of safe agricultural products…

Explaining the price of pomelo, orange in Hieu Liem commune in North Tan Uyen district that is higher than the common level, Nguyen Thanh Tuan, Chairman of the communal People’s Committee said that Hieu Liem green-skin pomelo growing under VietGap standards requires a very high cost, so it is very hard for the local growers to sold their products at a low level. Hieu Liem green-skin pomelo is mainly exported or sold at other localities. It is also rarely present at supermarkets as large-scale farms have a stable consumption market while gardeners mainly make transactions with dealers. Other reasons are that farmers are afraid of procedures and the amount of consumption at supermarkets is not great…

Developing a supply chain of safe foods in the locality

Experts said that the province’s hi-tech agricultural sector should attach special importance to domestic market towards sustainable development. The local functional agencies, farmsteads and gardeners also need to further strengthen sci-tech application into production, aiming to create hi-quality products with reasonable price; make favorable conditions for people to get access to safe agricultural products…

Under a goal of Binh Duong smart city development, three objects served are government-enterprises and people. Among them, people will enjoy a better life with online public services, smart education, job opportunities, multi-media entertainment, good healthcare…According to experts, helping people enjoy safe foods is an effort by the province during the process of smart city construction.

In addition, the province has promoted hi-tech cultivation and animal husbandry models with high economic efficiency. The province’s sci-tech development in hi-tech agricultural production has been improved, contributing to increasing productivity and quality of agricultural products. Particularly, the rate of using new varieties of main nurslings and breeding animals has reached 80%-100% and there are now 100% of farming land for perennial trees mechanized…
