200 gifts donated to people hit by saltwater intrusion in Ben Tre

*57 poor people under free eye surgery

Provincial Red Cross Society, on April 10, held a delegation to visit and present gifts to people hit by saltwater intrusion in two communes of Binh Thanh and Chau Binh in the Mekong Delta province of Ben Tre.

Particularly, the delegation gave 200 gifts worth VND600,000 each, comprising of rice, instant noodle, sugar, milk, soya sauce and cash, to needy locals. These gifts are worth VND800mln, funded by nun Thich nu Dieu Tam and Buddhist followers from Ngoc Dinh temple in TDM city’s Dinh Hoa ward.

*Di An town’s Red Cross Society in collaboration with HCM city’s Society of Ophthalmology and the town’s Health Center has just provided free cataract surgeries and gifts for 57 poor patients.

It is known that the program has a total expense of more than VND170mln, funded by HCM city’s Society of Ophthalmology, members of the Volunteers’ Club under the town’s Red Cross Society and Buddhist followers from Phuoc Hoa pagoda in HCM city.
