2011 national Buddhism propagation seminar kicks off

The 2011 national Buddhism propagation seminar themed “Buddhism with the nation” took place at the provincial stadium on March 10 evening with the participation of superior Buddhist monk Thich Tri Quang, head of Central Dharma Propagation Committee Int’l Buddhism Commission, members of the Binh Duong Buddhism Executive Committee, Ha Van Nui, deputy chairman of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, Mai The Trung, the provincial party committee secretary and nearly 40,000 Buddhist followers from provinces and cities nationwide.

Addressing the seminar, superior Buddhist monk Thich Bao Nghiem, head of Central Dharma Propagation Committee, said the seminar is to launch key policies of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, offering conditions for Buddhist followers and intellectuals nationwide to contribute to the national Buddhism development and uphold the national great unity.

On behalf of the local leaders, Mai The Trung, the provincial party committee secretary hoped that the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha will continue upholding the motto of “Buddhism, nation and socialism”. Buddhism propagation activities will bring interests for life.

Right after the opening ceremony of the seminar, a music show took place. On the occasion, the organizing board granted a VND10bil cash board to the provincial Fatherland Front Committee.

Within the framework of the seminar, a procession entitled, “Buddhism with environment” took place on yesterday with the participation of superior Buddhist monk Thich Tan Dat, Deputy Head of the Central Dharma Propagation Committee and standing vice head of the organizing board and nearly 1,000 monk, nuns and Buddhism believers from provinces and cities.
