Application of bio-technology for sustainable development

Update: 10-05-2012 | 00:00:00

Many projects under application

The entire province is home to about 40 animal food producers with the output of nearly 920,000 tons per year, supplying products for local and foreign breeding industry. These companies have launched and applied many valued bi-technological projects. At present, these companies have tested bio products to mix into cattle and poultry’s food. In addition, the whole province has 6 businesses doing outwork packing of plant protection medicines with the output of about 2,680 tons per year. Thanks to application of bi-technology, the veterinary medicine enterprises such DSM Company, SAFA-MEDIC Company, Minh Dung Company, VIPHAVIET Company… have accounted for big market shares in the breeding industry.

In terms of environmental protection, Binh Duong has implemented 2 projects including “measures of management of cesspit mud transport, collection and treatment in Binh Duong” and “Assessment of local waste water plants’ operation”. Aside from the mentioned projects, many waste treatment projects have been launched. They include biogas project of Gia Nam company, waste treatment projects of breeding and slaughtering industry for Thuong Thanh Van pig slaughterhouse, Ut Hao slaughterhouse… Overall, research, application and transfer of bio-technology projects for waste treatment have contributed to local environmental protection.

To encourage businesses’ application of bio-technology in production, the province is ready to support expenses for businesses. Specifically, the province has supported VND575mil for Viet My Fertilizer JSC to perfect an application of bio-technology for its production.

Application of bio-technology for environmental protection focused

Though the locality has reached some results of application of bio-technology, it has yet to focus on transfer and development of bio-technology. The reason is from shortage of investment and skill.

Regarding application and development of bio-technology in the coming time, Huynh Van Nhi, vice chairman of the provincial People’s Committee said that Binh Duong would focus on research, application and transfer of bio-technology in waste treatment. Accordingly, it will focus on waste water and solid waste treatment, development of human resources for environmental protection, cooperative promotion with research institutes and universities as well as local and foreign organizations in a bid to spur manpower training, transfer and application of scientific and technological advances in environmental protection.
