ASEAN+3 youth forum discusses human resources development

Update: 19-10-2011 | 00:00:00

The ASEAN+3 Youth Forum opened in Hanoi on October 18 as a venue for young people to raise their voices and propose policies to uphold the role of youth in national construction and in building an ASEAN community.

This year’s forum aims to educate young people from ASEAN countries about the importance of high quality human resources in the bloc and encourage them to contribute their energy to building a united ASEAN community.

The forum is part of the seventh ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Youth being hosted by Vietnam from October 17-21.

Young delegates to the forum were divided into groups to discuss such issues as what young people can do to accelerate the formation of a knowledge-based society in ASEAN+3; providing knowledge for young people to benefit from as well as cope with globalization; and stepping up cooperation between ASEAN+3 countries in developing human resources.

The results of these discussions will be presented at the ASEAN Plus Three Ministerial Meeting on Youth.

During the forum, delegates will participate in a variety of activities including an ASEAN culture night, a visit to Ha Long Bay, promoting voting for Ha Long Bay as one of the new seven wonders of the world, and meeting with young people from the Vietnam Diplomatic Academy.
