The Sao Vang Dat Viet (Vietnam Gold Star) Awards ceremony was held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 2.

Present at the event were Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong; Ho Duc Viet, a Party Politburo member and Secretary of the Party Central Committee; and To Huy Rua, Secretary of the Party Central Committee (PCC) and Head of the PCC’s Information and Education Commission.

At the ceremony, Deputy PM Trong congratulated the 200 businesses receiving awards acknowledging and honouring their contributions to the country’s development.

On behalf of the Government, Mr Trong commended the Ho Chi Minh City Communist Youth Union (HCYU) and the Vietnam Young Business Association, which were instrumental in organising the awards ceremony this year.

Since the annual event began in 2003, 1,327 Vietnamese businesses have been honoured.

The 200 businesses selected this year all had stable growth rates. Their combined turnover exceeded VND475,000 billion. They collectively contributed nearly VND44,000 billion to the State budget, earned after-tax profits of more than VND48,000 billion, and created over 390,000 new jobs
