Binh Duong Buddhist Women's Association established

On October 16, Binh Duong Provincial Women's Union (WU) coordinated with Executive Board of Provincial Buddhist Sangha established and introduced Binh Duong Buddhist Women's Association. This is a branch directly under Provincial Women's Union, the first special women branch established in the country.

Do Thuy Dieu Tam, Deputy Head of the Southern Affairs Department of Vietnam Central Women's Union; Nguyen Van Loc, Member of Provincial Party Standing Committee, Head of Provincial Party Mass Mobilization Committee, Chairman of Provincial Fatherland Front Committee; and representatives of departments, agencies and dignitaries in Provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board attended the ceremony.

Executive Board of Binh Duong Buddhist Women's Association has 9 members, who are typical nuns and Buddhists, led by Nun Thich Nu Tu Thao - Deputy Head of Provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board, with 108 members and followers.

Activities of the association will serve its role in building the great national unity bloc, implementing movements for the benefit of the country and the population, supporting the poor, repaying gratitude, preserving environmental sanitation, implementation of civilized lifestyle, cultural family, besides religious duties, building a new cultural lifestyle, encouraging people to live better, and protecting the rights of women and children.

At the ceremony, the organizers gave 70 gifts worth 500,000 VND each to Provincial Association of the Blind and disadvantaged women of Thu Dau Mot City and Ben Cat Town.

Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Deputy General Secretary of Executive Council, Chief of Office 2 of the Central Buddhist Sangha, Head of Provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Board, also presented flowers, congratulated the event, and delivered a speech about the role of women in Buddhist thought.
