Binh Duong’s women strive to rise up…

Today, the ratio of women participating in management and leadership positions has been increasing, contributing to gradually narrowing the gender gap in the fields of politics, business, employment…This is also the target set by the National Committee for the Advancement for Women.

 Regarding the target of increasing women’s participation in management and leadership to step by step reduce the gender gap in politics, Phan Thanh Son, director of provincial Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs cum deputy head of provincial Committee for the Advancement for Women said: “Females are about 22.82% of staff in Party committees at all levels for the 2010 and 2015 tenure, up nearly 5.1% compared to the previous year. Nearly 43% of cadres in 91 communes, wards and townships are women…”.

   Job creation for women to increase their income is one of measures to help them raise their positions

The province has also always paid attention to raising female cadres’ qualification. Reportedly, provincial People’s Committee sent 208 female cadres to training courses at home and abroad… in the first half of the year.

 To ensure women’s rights and interests in employment, in the first half of the year,  levels and sectors in the province introduced jobs to 41,450 laborers, nearly 28,000 of whom are female, or 67% and organized 20 vocational classes for rural laborers aged under 45 with the participation of 280 female learners. Most such laborers have so far found stable jobs, improving their income…

Especially, provincial Committee for the Advancement for Women has promoted the project against family violence in a bid to realize the target of ensuring gender equality in family life, step by step eradicating family violence. The committee has also sped up the dissemination work to help all people have more knowledge to prevent family violence, protect and support victims. Doan Thi Dieu Hien, chairwoman of provincial Women’s Union said that many people has so far had good awareness of this task and made right actions.

 Aside from positive changes, the dissemination work and education for women have faced many obstacles. Hence, Huynh Van Nhi, vice-chairman of provincial People’s Committee has asked for sectors, agencies and women’s unions at all levels to strength the dissemination work and education for all people, especially women to raise their awareness so that they constantly train and strive to rise up to be able to catch up with men in all aspects.
