Campaign is held everywhere

In recent days, districts and cities in the province have successively held ceremonies to launch a media campaign to advocate for integrating the provision of reproductive health care services, family planning and improving population quality with low fertility. After the launching ceremony, there was a propaganda parade about the campaign and population issues on some main roads of each locality. Banners and slogans were hung everywhere, and information was promoted in newspapers and radio, attracting people's interest and attention.

In Thu Dau Mot City, the campaign was implemented in Phu Cuong and Phu Tan wards. The main form is propaganda, consulting and providing service packages in the campaign, such as: Examination and treatment of gynecological and reproductive tract infections; infertility screening; Reproductive tract cancer screening; providing non-clinical contraceptives; Health check for men and women before marriage; Providing prenatal check-up service packages, safe motherhood packages, and prenatal and newborn screening service packages for pregnant women and raising children.

Thu Dau Mot City strives to increase fertility by 2025 to soon reach replacement fertility, improve population quality, and contribute to the successful implementation of Vietnam's Population Strategy until 2030. Specifically, the targets are as follows: have over 50% of young men and women preparing to get married and receiving counseling, pre-marital health check-ups, and infertility prevention; Over 50% of couples of reproductive age, adolescents and young adults are consulted and provided with information on reproductive health care, family planning and improving population quality; 50% of couples of reproductive age, adolescents and young adults will benefit from reproductive health care services, family planning and improving population quality.

The media campaign advocating having two children, together with providing reproductive health care services, family planning and improving population quality was held in 18/91 communes, wards and towns across the province. During about one month of the campaign, the whole province focused on propaganda and advocacy that each couple should have two children; providing quality services to improve population quality, reproductive health care, family planning, health care for the elderly, pre-marital health examination, and prenatal and newborn screening. These activities help people take care of their reproductive health and access knowledge about population and development locally.

Gradually improve population quality

Recently, population management work in the province has faced some difficulties and challenges, such as: Low birth rate and high annual mechanical population growth rate contribute to increasing population size; Large population size, wide residential area; Population fluctuates frequently. According to the Ministry of Health, Binh Duong needs to continue to strengthen leadership and direction on population management with key tasks. Namely, localities and units continue to thoroughly grasp and disseminate the content of Resolution No. 21-NQ/TW to create high social consensus on shifting the focus of population policy from family planning to population and development; continue to effectively implement the province's projects and plans on population work in the spirit of the Resolution.

Population quality is the quality of life of each person, each community and the entire society. Considering population quality as a leading factor directly influencing socio-economic development and the creation of resources for rapid and sustainable development, Binh Duong is shifting its focus of population policy from family planning to population and development. This involves making population work an important aspect of the leadership and direction of party committees and authorities at all levels.

In particular, in the media campaign to promote the integration of providing reproductive health care services, family planning and improving population quality in areas with low fertility rates, localities continue to strengthen the provision of reproductive health care services, family planning (socialized and free) during the campaign implementation period. Namely, to consult and provide service packages: Examination and treatment of gynecological and reproductive tract infections; infertility screening; Reproductive tract cancer screening; providing non-clinical contraceptives; Health examination for men and women before marriage; Providing prenatal check-up service packages and safe motherhood packages.
