Clean water – the limited resource

In 1992, UNCED sent the message of limited resources of clean water which is more important that foods as it is depleting and being polluted. Binh Duong Province has paid much attention to clean water and environment sanitation while encourage the public to save water use to improve life quality.

Clean water is available, saving needed

By the determined and effective leadership of the province and assistance of ministries, departments, and international sponsors, clean water supplying system of Binh Duong Province has been modernized with highly capable stations. The province has been in control of clean water thanks to its proximity to two large rivers of Saigon and Dong Nai and the large preservation of underground water. The supplying stations have been connected by modern management system assuring continual operations while evading risks.

Mai Song Hao, the Deputy Director of Water Supplying Plant of Binh Duong Complex Zone informed of ODA-assisted construction of modern water supplying stations of 90,000 cubic meters per day night, assuring water supply to daily life and industrial production activities with clean water outreach to localities of clean water scarcity such as Phu An Commune in An Tay of Ben Cat Town. Those localities are nearby large river; however, the presence of industrial parks makes it harder for water transportation. Aside from drilling wells, water resource has been salted which can affect health in long-term use.s

Nguyen Van Thien, the General Director of Biwase affirmed that the modern scada technology has helped to avoid risks in Binh Duong Province to assure clean water supply for daily life and production operations. Binh Duong Province has also helped some locality in Cu Chi District and Thu Duc District of Ho Chi Minh City, Tan Van and Tan Hanh of Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai Province to balance their water supply. He also encouraged water users to save although the water leakage percentage of Binh Duong Province is relatively lower than 7%, comparing with 5% in Singapore.

In the heat of up to 40 degree Celsius, the construction team of Nam Tan Uyen Water Supplying Plant hurried with their work to install the supplying system for locals of Tan Dinh Commune in Bac Tan Uyen District who are in urgent needs of clean water.

Pham Tan Vi, the Chair of Tan Dinh Commune People’s Committee informed that local people have been expecting for clean water ever since; thus, they would be so happy to have water supply to their places. Currently at Cay Chanh commune, clean water scarcity has been resolved in dry season thanks to a public fountain of public use funded by local people’s committee.

Pham Dac Thanh, the Director of Nam Tan Uyen Water Supplying Plant affirmed their constant efforts to bring clean water to the public.

With relatively large coverage in Thuan An Town, Di An Town, Tan Uyen Town, and a part of Thu Dau Mot City, Di An Water Supplying Plant has assured sufficient water supply for daily life and production of industrial parks. According to Nguyen Van Tin, the Deputy Director of Di An Water Supplying Plant, fast urbanization and socialization of the province have helped Biwase to develop PPP companies to exceeds the supplying needs.

To meet socio-economic development demands of the province, Biwase for the time to come will initiate more water supplying constructions in urban areas and new industrial parks in Northern localities of the province. Currently the clean water supplying system has covered all the localities to meet all demands for daily life and production operations.
