Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc and Costa Rica’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religion, Manual Gonzalez Sanz has co-chaired a meeting for political consultations with Deputy Foreign Minister Alejandro Solano Ortiz.
The two sides acknowledged the importance of holding bilateral political consultations and maintaining regular exchanges to increase ties both bilaterally and multilaterally.
They agreed to cooperate in activities to celebrate the 40th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties in 2016.
They pledged continued cooperation and mutual support at international organizations and forums.
Costa Rica promised to support Vietnam’s bid to become a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the 2020-2021 period, the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in the 2016-2018 period, and the UNESCO Executive Council for the 2015-2019 term.
Both sides exchanged views on international issues of shared concern and supported addressing sovereign disputes through peaceful negotiations and in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
Deputy Foreign Minister Ha Kim Ngoc is on a visit to Costa Rica to attend the Forum on Latin America-East Asia (FEALAC) taking place on August 20-21 in the capital city San Jose.
