One of the vanguards of dairy breeding in Long Tan commune is Nguyen Van Khuong who left Thanh Hoa homeland to settle down in the commune in 1985. With VND10mil for start-up in 2001, he has so far possessed 30 dairy cows, 17 of which have offered milk with income of VND2mil per day.
Aside from making wealth for himself, Khuong has set up a dairy cooperative to help poor people overcome difficulties. At present, Long Tan commune dairy cooperative has lured 15 members with the total dairy cows of 170.
Meanwhile, Pham Van Khoi, the member of the dairy cooperative said that he now has 25 dairy cows, 7 of which have offered milk, reaping nearly VND1mil per day.
As statistics, the entire commune of Long Tan now has 16 dairy breeding households with the total dairy cows of nearly 180. Nguyen Kim Thanh, chairman of Long Tan commune Farmers’ Society, said “Dairy breeding brings high economic efficiency and improves local farmers’ living”.
Long Tan communal People’s Committee chairman, said “We have at present completed procedures to set up a dairy breeding cooperative. Once established, members will enjoy advantaged conditions to develop this collective economic model”.
