In responding to our interview, Deputy standing Secretary Tran Chi Thanh of Dau Tieng district’s People’s Committee has made valuable evaluation of industrial strength and obstacles in society-economy-defense-security. The district has achieved economic targets for the past term when agricultural production has increased by 4.6%, trade and service by 14.3%, and industry by 30.8%. Average income per capita has reached VND 15.6 million a year.
- How is your evaluation of growing numbers of richer households in Dau Tieng district in the past few years?
- Well, it was thanks to how Dau Tieng district’s Party Committee has promoted local strength of vast agricultural land for rubber tree planting which has brought about effective earnings for nearly 90% of household in Dau Tieng. Some households are dramatically changed into more prosperous way of living.
- How will local Party Committee promote such strength?
- Dau Tieng district’s Party Committee considers key target of agricultural economic development as its strength to develop sustainably; however, agriculture will be developed in the tendency of industrialization. In the meantime, Dau Tieng district will be step by step promoted to a modernized rural area with faster transition of economic structure with greater portions of service and industry; husbandry will be transformed with plants and livestock adaptive to environment and conditions of regions and local available trade and tourism development as well as industrial investment.
- Does it mean that Dau Tieng district is on the one hand conditioned to promote agriculture development and infrastructure prepared for investment attraction?
- In the future, Dau Tieng district will become one of the localities with good infrastructure to welcome investors. Today, the life-line streets connecting Dau Tieng district are under fast construction including Ho Chi Minh Avenue from the 14th National Avenue to Dau Tieng district, and other internal streets of DT744, DT748. DT749A, DT750, DT749B, etc. New road construction will open up chances for Dau Tieng district to develop industry. Before hand, we will plan for complete construction of 2 – 3 zones or hub of industry of 150 to 200 ha to call for domestic and oversea investment. In the future, the ratio of industry and construction will stand at about 32.5 to 33% of the investment.
- As your previous comments, Dau Tieng district is potential of tourism development but still failed to maximize it. So, in the upcoming term, what targets are presented to promote tourism?
- Dau Tieng district has not yet been promoted in term of tourism maximizing for the ‘tri-angle’ region of Nui Cau, Dau Tieng and Than Tho lakes. We will push on our proposal to the provincial People’s Committee to maximize such potential. Besides, the district will be prompted to recovery of historical sites.
- What will be done to achieve the targets successfully?
- In my opinion, in this time’s congress, Dau Tieng district’s Party Committee must be straight in admitting shortcomings in leadership. During the resolution implementation, problems should be identified. I think the focal issues should be such identification for effective measures.
- Thank you!
