Province strives to be an industrial city

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung paid a working session to the province on Aug. 10. Addressing the session, the PM applauded local authorities and people’s efforts over years.

Recent years, the provincial GDP reached a high rate of 14% per year with the rapid growth pace of service and industry at 4.4% and 63%, respectively.

The local per capita income reached VND30.1mil, 2.2 times from 2005 and poverty rate was at the lowest rate of less than 1%. Besides, labor force for agriculture sector was only at 18%, so the province is an industrial locality.

The locality has so far had 28 industrial parks with more than 9,000 domestic businesses and about 2,000 foreign projects, capitalized at over VND60.7bil and $13.3bil, respectively.

Urbanization and industrialization process in the province has showed a rapid increase with target excess of budget collection. The locality is ranked at high position of competitive capacity index.

The above results have contributed to turn the locality into an industrial and modern city. The PM asked the locality to specify concrete goals to build an industrial and modern city at the upcoming provincial party congress.

In addition, the PM suggested that the province should uphold available potentials, advantages of geographic position, national routes and so on to develop into a modern city.

He also noted that the locality should offer safe and advantaged investment climate for local and foreign investors as well as pay much attention to environmental protection.

In terms of agriculture industry, the province should shift the field into a processing industry with high value as well as boost infrastructure building, manpower training and among others to be a typical industrial province of the whole country…
