Phan Thi Trang, a school student of Class 7A4 of Lai Hung Junior High School in Ben Cat District, overcomes her disability of one leg and right arm. For 6 years through, she have been winning titles of excellent student. Born to a poor family in Quang Son Commune of Quang Trach in Quang Binh District, she and her 8-year-old sister suffered the pains of losing her father and witnessing her mother affected by orange agent. In her 4th grade in elementary school, she suffered from a brain tumor which derived function of one leg and the right arm. In her 12, she came to Ben Cat District of Binh Duong Province to pursue her dream of schooling under the support of her aunt. She have trained with all wit to be able to write by left hand after one month. And the two years of effort have paid off. She have overcome shyness to earn higher grade in class. She can only type with one hand but efforts have enabled her to follow her peers. “I try to grasp up the theory in books before working on the computer. This makes my computing faster,” she said. Living away from home but the support of her aunt has partially release her homesick. She kept telling about her dreams of becoming a doctor and a poet. “I used to make poems for myself, the poems about the nature, friends, and teacher; however, I have never presented them to anyone else. For the time to come, I will join the contest of gratitude caligraphy,” she said.
