To uphold members ‘flexibility and creation in production-business, Thuan An city’s Farmers ‘Association has always attached special importance to promoting the emulation movement of “good farmer in production-business” among communes and wards, absorbing the participation of numerous farmers from all strata.

Emulation encouraged

According to Nguyen Thuy Minh Chi, Chairman of Thuan An city’s Farmers ‘Association, the emulation movement of “good farmer in production-business” is a major movement of the association, encouraging the local farmers to actively work and bravely apply sci-tech advancements in agricultural production.

The model of growing vegetables by the hydroponic system

For the emulation movement getting better results, the association and its branches have regularly propagandized, mobilized members to register for the title of “good farmer in production-business”; developed effective models, bringing stable incomes to members. Through the emulation movement, the association has mobilized more than VND14.3billion, opportunely supporting farmers in economic development.

The association has also coordinated with the Center for Agricultural Services to support 5 models on orchid growing in An Thanh ward with 500 nurslings provided; worked with relevant units to open 2 classes on sci-tech transfer, 2 seminars with hundreds of participants.

Advanced role-models

To be in line with the local urban development process, farmers in Thuan An city have step by step changed to urban agricultural models from agricultural ones. Agricultural models with new crop plants, animals applying sci-tech advancements have brought hi-economic efficiency to the local farmers. This is also a highlight of the emulation movement of “good farmers in production-business”, developing new models with the annual income of hundreds of millions of dong.

Noticeably, Hung Dinh ward now has 3 farmers ‘association branches with all 141 members winning the title of “good farmer in production-business”. Among them, Vo Hung Hung in Hung Tho quarter is famous with the model of breeding swallows and trading in swallow nests with the annual income of more than VND1billion. He has also won the title of “good farmer in production-business” at central level 2020.

Thanks to her diligence plus VND100million in loan from the local support fund for farmers, Nguyen Thi Truong can secure the annual income of VND260millon from 2,800 square meters of mangosteens, jackfruits…and 5,000 green-skin pomelos.

In Binh Nham ward, the emulation movement of “good farmer in production and business” 2020 absorbed the participation of 260 farming households. Among them, there were 235 winning the title of “good farmer in production and business” at provincial level, 4 at city level and 17 at ward level. Nguyen Phu Dong, Chairman of Binh Nham ward’s Farmers ‘Association said that the local farmers have bravely applied sci-tech advancements in agricultural production. Nguyen Van Tien is a typical example with the model of growing vegetables by the hydroponic system in Binh Duc quarter. This is a new model under the urban agricultural trend, increasing production values and incomes for farmers.

Mrs.Chi said that many farming households in the city have escaped poverty and stabilized their lives from the emulation movement. The emulation movement is of great significance for members, arousing their flexibility and creation in production-business for better development.
