Environmental protection needs to be implemented in a more drastic and synchronous way

Results

In 2014, sectors and localities in the province made efforts in carrying out the province’s projects on environmental protection in the period of 2011 and 2015. They fulfilled 16 out of 2014’s 17 main tasks on environmental protection and the remainder is now underway. So far, 21 production facilities with environmental pollution have been removed from residential areas. Many other tasks on environmental protection were also realized by sectors and localities in the province.

The province has instructed sectors and localities to carry out 26 works on water environment improvement in the period of 2011 and 2015. To date, many such works, including the South Binh Duong water environment improvement project, has been completed and put into operation. Provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment has also carried out a lot of projects on water surveillance systems; purchased equipment against oil overflow and other incidents.

Besides, many projects on water drainage and waste treatment invested by Binh Duong Water Supply-Drainage and Environment One-Member Co.Ltd. have also reached initial results. Many other projects on environmental protection have been gradually formed up. After being completed, they will deal with the province’s environmental pollution under the Resolutions of provincial Party Committee and People’s Council.

More drastic solution needed

At the meeting, members of provincial Steering Board of Environmental Protection contributed ideas to the implementation of measures on environmental protection. Representatives of districts, towns and TDM city also suggested the province to step up main projects on environmental protection. Meanwhile, other delegates said that sectors and localities needed to be more drastic in raising public awareness of environmental protection…

Mr.Nam affirmed: “Environmental protection is a great policy of Binh Duong, so sectors and localities need to pay attention to environmental protection measures. They also need to attach special importance to removing production facilities that cause environmental pollution from residential areas while rechecking all targets of provincial environmental protection program, investment items in the period of 2011 and 2015...”.

He also asked for districts, towns and TDM city to focus on collecting water hyacinth from canals while speeding up propaganda work to raise public awareness of environmental protection.
