Thanks to the timely participation, the cooperation of all levels, sectors and business community, in the last days of the year, the production situation is favorable and the supply of goods is plentiful. In addition, the market stabilization program has been actively implemented by localities in the province, thus commodity prices have not changed much.
Supermarkets increase sale promotion for essential goods for Tet holiday.
Don't have to worry about shortage of goods, price fever
According to provincial Department of Industry and Trade, retail businesses in the province have fully stocked essential goods and committed to keeping stable prices during Lunar New Year 2020. Previously, the department continuously worked with related departments, branches, localities and businesses to reach an agreed general plan for price stabilization program of essential commodities at the year end and Tet holiday 2020. In addition, the department actively worked with large businesses, supermarkets, shopping centers, traditional markets to plan for early stockpiling of Tet goods, especially in remote places, where there is a risk of goods shortages.
Currently, in localities in the province, most essential commodities for Tet such as rice, glutinous rice, sugar, milk, cooking oil, cattle, poultry meat... are plentiful, abundant and have stable prices. The stabilized goods amount account for 30-40% of market demands, and will increase gradually before Tet. The province's stabilized commodity value during this Lunar New Year is about VND 1,500 billion.
In supermarkets, commercial centers, convenience stores, traditional markets in the province, the source of Tet goods increased 45 - 50% compared to the normal month, in which the amount of units and enterprises participating in Tet stabilizing program increased by 20-25% over the same period in 2019. Besides, businesses organized shipments to remote areas and industrial zones across the province to create favorable conditions for people to buy goods.
Department of Industry and Trade also worked with districts, towns and city to implement solutions to ensure supply and demand balance, stabilize the market in the last months of 2019 and Lunar New Year 2020. Expectedly, the demand for goods on Tet holiday would increase by 10 - 12% over the same period last year. At present, at appointed sale locations, prices are clearly listed; businesses pledge to sell at the listed prices and keep it stable during Tet.
Meanwhile, most distribution systems are committed to providing qualified goods with clear origin; Vietnamese goods accounted for 100% stabilization list of enterprises in the program. Thanks to the early stockpile of the businesses and thoughtful Tet programs, shopping demand is satisfied, goods price has not had large fluctuations.
This year, in remote areas such as Dau Tieng district, in addition to traditional markets, grocery stores, resellers, Dau Tieng town has Home Mark Minh Anh, Dau Tieng mini supermarket, Bach Hoa Xanh convenience stores to well serve service shopping needs of the people.
To ensure pork price stabilization
Hồ Văn Bình, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, said that units had fully stocked the necessary goods amount for Tet. However, the department continues to monitor price movements on the market, especially pork prices in the near future.
According to Vũ Thanh Trúc, Director of Co.opmart Cho Dinh Supermarket (Thu Dau Mot City), for Lunar New Year 2020, the supermarket prepared a supply of 15-40% increase over the same period last year. For pork supply, Co.opmart supermarket system across the country prepared about 3,500 tons of meat. Therefore, there will be no shortage of products during the year-end and Lunar New Year.
According to forecasts, at traditional markets, price of fresh food products, especially pork, would fluctuate in the days ahead of Tet due to strong demand, increasing transportation costs... However, due to the counterbalance from stabilization selling points, supermarkets, shopping centers with stable prices, the general price increase has been curbed.
Currently, provincial Market management force actively fights against speculation, hoarding, preventing the transport of sick pigs; strengthens inspection, control of the transport and trade of sick pigs, unknown origin, no guarantee of food safety...
It is forecasted that goods supply demand on Tet holiday 2020 would be stable, abundant, no price surge and no shortage of goods. Department of Industry and Trade is monitoring closely price movements, volatility, demand, consolidate resources and forces to stabilize the pork market; To steer businesses, especially enterprises in the market stabilization program to secure supply and keep pork prices stable before, during and after Tet. Fire prevention, order arrangement, market booth arrangement is also performed simultaneously in localities.
Besides adequate supply, these days, localities in the province intensify the inspection and control of the commodity market, the quality of food hygiene and safety. Namely, localities focus on fighting against smuggling, trade fraud and counterfeit goods; Strictly handle violations in order to ensure food safety and hygiene for Tet shopping need.
Mr. Bình, Deputy Director of Department of Industry and Trade, assessed that enterprises made every effort to prepare goods thoroughly, were responsible to ensure supply for the Tet shopping demand. In particular, pork makes up 70% consumer demands. Thus the authorities all the way guarantee to supply adequately this type of product, prevent price fever.
