Joining hands for the World Environment Day

Update: 14-04-2011 | 00:00:00

This year’s World Environment Day (WED) on 5 June has the theme “Forests: Nature at Your Service”. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) chooses the theme to change community’s awareness on forest ecosystem preservation and use forest products sustainably.

Youths and unionists make paper bags in replacement of nylon ones.

On April 6, 2001, the provincial People’s Committee set out a Plan 863/KH-UBND on holding anniversaries for the WED with the purpose of improving promulgation on environmental protection and natural resource.

Expectedly, on 5 June, a meeting on WED will be held at Binh Duong Industry-Service-Urban Complex. The local department of Environment and Natural Resources will announce the 2010 Binh Duong green list and honor businesses excelling environmental protection. Especially, 36 flower-decorated carriages will depart from the complex to Huynh Van Luy road through Binh Duong Avenue and Aug Revolution Road and stop at BTV to open Binh Duong New City Football Tournament at the local stadium.

The new character of the grand meeting will lie in gift granting and support from businesses. 10,000 documents on environmental protection will be printed to deliver the community. The local fund for environmental protection will grant 150 dustbins for households joining in self-control teams on environmental protection.

Meanwhile, functional agencies and businesses will make 1,400 banners and panels to hang across routes. And, 4,000 ecological bags will be delivered to families to protect environment.
