Local agriculture and rural development sector develops stably

Despite challenges and difficulties, Binh Duong provincial agriculture and rural development sector has developed stably, contributing to local common growth.

Many goals completed

In 2011, the local agricultural production faced many difficulties of bad weather, epidemic diseases, high price of materials. However, with right orientations and efforts from local authorities and farmers, local agriculture has still gained a stable growth with completed goals from 2010.  

Accordingly, production value of agro-forestry and aquatic sectors reached VND2,802bil, a 4.2% rise from 2010. In addition, cultivation production value reached VND1,905bil, a 1.45% increase from the same period last year and accounted for 72.3% of local agricultural structure. Export turnover of agro-forestry and aquatic items gained US$10.34bil, a 21% increase from 2010.

Rural socio-economic infrastructure facility was focused significantly. On average, per capita income in rural area reached VND20.25mil per year in the past year, the number of local poor household declined 1.71% from early 2011.

The entire province now has 1,351 cooperative teams with 27,670 members. Work of plant protection, quality management of agro-forestry and aquatic sectors and veterinary work were focused on.

The local agriculture industry in 2012 sets out goals of a 4% increase in agro-forestry and aquatic sectors, a 3.9% rise in agricultural production and so on. To excel the goals, the sector will focus on implementing 2 big programs of hi-tech agriculture and new rural building.

Local urban and hi-tech agriculture sectors have gained a stable development. Accordingly, many farmer households and farmsteads have applied technical advances into agricultural production. Until now, hi-tech agricultural areas have invested in infrastructure facilities and launched some models of production and implemented 4 safe vegetable production projects and 351 pilot models.

In the past year, the whole province launched the national goal program on new rural building across 30 communes. The locality has strived to reach 40 communes winning new rural commune standards with an average income of VND24mil per capita per year by 2015 and 100% of communes winning new rural commune standards by 2020 with an income of VND36mil per capital per year.
