Many activities to support workers ‘offspring before the new academic year

Over the past few days, provincial trade unions at all levels carried out such programs as "Making dreams come true", "Giving strength to school"..., to accompany the offspring of workers. Especially, the "Beloved book and notebook" program has been implemented quite well by enterprises. These programs have helped the offspring of disadvantaged workers have more funds, books and notebooks to enter the new school year more fully and confidently.

This year, although many enterprises have faced difficulties in production, grassroots trade unions have still tried to take care of students who are the children of workers. Some enterprises have awarded scholarships to children with good academic achievements up to 2 times a year.

Le Van Hieu, Chairman of Thuan An city’s Labor Union offers gifts the local workers ‘offspring with good academic achievements

Dao Minh Tinh, Chairman of the trade union local of TCL Intelligent Electronics Co., Ltd. in Tan Uyen city said that on the occasion of June 1, the company awarded scholarships to about 40 workers ‘children with good academic achievements, encouraging them to further rise and achieve high academic achievements. However, when the children are about to enter the new school year, the unit realized that there are some cases with difficult circumstances. Therefore, the unit has immediately planned to give gifts for these children in order to further share difficulties with them. This time, the company’s trade union local plans to give about 50 cash gifts for disadvantaged children and those with good academic achievements during the year. The amount is not much, about VND 500,000 per gift, with the main desire of encouraging the children as well as creating a movement to take better care of workers' lives.

Meanwhile, Pham Nhat Ha, Chairman of the trade union local of Liwayway Vietnam Joint Stock Company in Thuan An city-based VSIP I said that the company's trade union local has just given gift vouchers worth VND150,000 each for 1,600 children of employees. In addition, for children with good academic records, depending on the level of study, they were awarded corresponding scholarships, with the primary, secondary and high school levels of VND400,000, VND 800,000 and VND 1 million, respectively. For children with extremely difficult circumstances, the company’s trade union locals offered additional school things like books, backpacks and pens, to create the best possible conditions for them to study...

Over the past years, the “Beloved book, notebook” program launched by provincial Labor Union really spread and brought high efficiency. From this program, depending on financial sources and ways, each trade union local has different ways of taking care of workers' children. Some units mobilized, shared books, notebooks, old clothes  while others gave money, gifts....All aimed at raising the children's steps to school. Recently, Shyang Hung Cheng Co., Ltd. in Thuan An city has given 1,200 study promotion gifts worth VND 1 million each and other gifts for children with good academic achievements in the 2022-2023 school year. Compass II Co., Ltd. in Thuan An city-based VSIP I has just commended and rewarded 90 workers’ children with the “good and excellent student” titles in the school year of 2022-2023; gave emblems to 11 children with good academic achievements for five consecutive years...

Ha Thi Tham, from Ha Tinh province, working for Compass II Co., Ltd. confided: “Every year, the company's trade union local awards scholarships to employees' children, creating great motivation for them to study well. From the day receiving the emblem of the company’s trade union local, my child placed it on the study corner very respectfully. She told herself that she would study better to further receive more gifts, growing up to have a good job to take care of me. Hearing her words, I felt very happy and told myself to work hard to take care of her education...”.

For employees ‘offspring getting conditions to go to school in the first days of the school year, Thuan An city’s Labor Union has just organized a program to give gifts for poor employees ‘children with good academic achievements in the 2022-2023 academic year. Accordingly, the unit gave gifts worth VND 800,000 each, including VND500,000 in cash, 10 notebooks, milk, confectionary and a backpack, for 227 students, with total cost of about VND 182 million.

Le Van Hieu, Chairman of Thuan An city’s Labor Union said that offering gifts to poor-but-excellent students is an annual activity of Thuan An city’s Labor Union at the beginning of the new school year. This meaningful activity aims at promptly praising and encouraging the children of workers, civil servants and trade unionists with difficult circumstances to continue their efforts to achieve high academic achievements, contributing to motivating employees to stick with units, enterprises and trade unions at all levels.

The Labor Unions of other districts, towns and cities are also actively implementing the “Beloved book and notebook” program to help workers ‘offspring, especially those with difficult circumstances, have conditions to go to school. Le Minh Hoang, Vice-Chairman of Tan Uyen city’s Labor Union said that the unit is considering giving gifts for the children of the local workers at the beginning of the school year. Through initial statistics, it is expected that this year the unit will donate more than 70 gifts to children with good academic achievements, children of workers with extremely difficult circumstances. Each gift includes about VND 500,000 in cash and a gift worth VND 300,000. This activity aims at encouraging students to rise up in their learning.
