Early September 12, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Nam stated at a meeting to sum up 10 years of public participation into fire fighting and prevention. As reported, from 2001 to 2011, 520 fires have occurred killing 13 and injuring 117 others, causing asset loss at nearly VND 334 billion. Meanwhile, 4 explosions have occurred killing 2 people. The cause of fires and explosions were mainly carelessness, electrical, and technical failures.In 10 years, the fire fighting and prevention police force has been constantly equipped with new vehicles and equipments and also succeeded in building up movement of public participation into fire fighting and prevention through various local models and contents.Departments and sectors also promoted communications and guidelines for organizations and households in terms of fire fighting and prevention in coordination with Binh Duong Newspaper and Binh Duong Radio and Television Station.Addressing the conference, Deputy Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee, Mr. Tran Van Nam highly appreciated the movement of public participation into fire fighting and prevention; however, he called upon them to promote this movement.Department of fire fighting and prevention should frequently open training courses of fire fighting and prevention so that public people should play their best role in discovery and extinguishing of fires.On this occasion, 19 collectives and 13 individuals have been praised up by Chairman of Provincial People’s Committee for the cause of fire fighting and prevention.
