democracy promotion.

The 5-year mobilization of poverty eradication and reduction in Ben Cat District was maximized through the role of Fatherland Front Committee and unions to help the poor with production funds and rural traffic construction projects.

Noticeable was political motto of “Closer to locality and the people to care for their righteous benefits” that is realized in actions of Fatherland Front Committee and unions. As the matter of fact, national programs started to resolve issues of employment, demography, family and children by attracting investments and loans for the poor to develop their own economy. In the 5 years, saving donation for the poor women has earned over VND 940 million while general fund for the poor has reached VND 1.8 billion. By cooperation with healthcare sector, Fatherland Front Committee launched national programs including extensive vaccination, mal-nutrition prevention, birth control, charity drives, and free healthcare. The programs cost nearly VND 300 million and extra VND 3 billion for children heart surgery.

As for target of “wealthy public, powerful nation, and society of equality, democracy and civilization”, Ben Cat District has called for people to engage in over 8,300 working day to dyke dredging, bridge repair, and constructions of 1,260km rural road and 682 charity houses at the cost of over VND 6.2 billion.

Meanwhile, some VND 27 billion was mobilized among 4,722 households of farmers who helped one another to develop household economy and stabilize their living. Meanwhile, over 10,000kg of rice was donated to over 1,768 households in difficulties, and nearly VND 1.4 billion was donated support affected people in disasters and floods.

Annually on major celebration, Fatherland Front Committee and unions frequently organize visits to the poor and privileged households and in-army-service youths. Other activities also included propaganda of public national defense, security maintenance, and exercises to prevent public chaos and natural disasters.

Local Veteran Association has also established 15 active platoon and clubs of soldiers who engage in guarding locality and educating the youths.

Democracy was facilitated in Ben Cat District from district to its grassroots in line with Direction No. 18/2000/CT-TTg of Prime Minister and Direction No. 37/2006/CT-UB of province’s People committee on public relations.

The year 2009, which was considered as public relations year, has prompted the implementation of Direction No. 30/CT-TW of Politburo in terms of promoting democratic policies.

Ben Cat District is successful in movements thanks to political system maintained by leadership of authority and Party Committee of all levels.
