Nearly VND9.3bln raised for the fund of provincial Sponsoring Fund for the Disabled, Orphans and Poor Patients

Provincial Sponsoring Association for the Disabled, Orphans and Poor Patients has just held a conference to review its activities in 2013 and define orientations, tasks for 2014. The association now has 47 affiliates with 10,194 members.

In 2013, the association mobilized VND9.3bln in cash and gifts for its fund or 306% of the year’s plan. The association and its affiliates used the fund to offer help to the disabled, orphans and poor patients via six main programs, including coordinating with the local medical sector to provide eye surgery for 596 blind people and rehabilitation surgery for 2,329 disabled people; awarding 345 scholarships to disabled and orphan children; presenting 132 wheelchairs worth VND286mln; mobilizing 114 people to attend classes at provincial Vocational Training Center for the Disabled, introducing jobs to 95 disabled people; supporting 51 households in communes with new rural construction.

The association also mobilized organizations and individuals to build and upgrade 29 houses of compassion with a total expense of VND836mln; provide heart surgery for 19 people; gave medical check-ups and gifts for 4,141 people; granted 9,152 health insurance cards for disabled people, orphans and poor patients…

On this occasion, 8 collectives and 2 individuals were awarded the certificates of merit of the Vietnam Sponsoring for the Disabled, Orphans and Poor Patients. 5 collectives and 10 individuals were awarded the certificates of merit of provincial People’s Committee. Provincial Sponsoring Association also presented the certificates of merit to 8 collectives, 29 individuals for their excellent performance in 2013.
