Phu Cuong marks 150th anniversary of Int’l Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement

Phu Cuong ward’s Red Cross Society, on May 9, held a get-together to mark the 150th anniversary of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement; the 150th anniversary of the International Red Cross Committee and Red Cross-Red Crescent Day (May 8, 1863-May 8, 2013).

With the goal of “Humanitarian action”, Phu Cuong ward’s Red Cross Society over time offered help to the poor and the disabled. Since early this year, the society mobilized organizations and individuals to raise more than VND96mln for the local social charity activities, offering help to 1,028 needy people; gave health care to nearly 23,000 turns of people with a total expense of VND200mln; provided free meals for poor patients at hospitals…

On this occasion, the ward’s Red Cross Society also donated 14 gifts with 10 kg of rice and VND100,000 each to disadvantaged people; mobilized 2 donors to present 2 gifts worth VND200,000 each to 2 cases with extremely difficult circumstances…
