Agricultural-forestry sector now accounts for 78% of the commune’s economic structure. Thanks to having shift in the right direction, the local agriculture-forestry sector has gained high production value. Rubber has become a kind of the main plant herein.

Farm economy is still a strong point of the commune with 41 farms, including 4 animal husbandry farms and 37 perennial tree-growing ones with 272 ha in total. In 2010, the average income per capita in the commune was estimated at VND13mln per year, up VND3.3mln compared to 2009.

The commune’s agriculture-forestry production value reached VND31.2bln, up 28.7% against 2009. Total budget revenue was estimated at more than VND4bln. The number of the local poor households was 48, or 5.8% of total. 99.5% of the local households were in use of electricity.

Doan Van Duyen, a resident in Ben Cat hamlet said: “The lives of households herein have seen rapid improvement. Thanks to high revenue from rubber trees, many households have built spacious houses. Inter-hamlet and commune roads herein have become better. The local government’s policies of encouraging economic development have also helped the local people feel secure for production…”.

In 2011, Phuoc Sang commune’s government and people will further uphold the local successes about economy and the tradition of a heroic locality to fulfill the local targets as follows: the average income per capital of VND13.5mln-VND14mln per year; agriculture-forestry production value up 4%-5%; the number of poor households in reduction by 30%-35% compared to 2010; 100% of households in use of electricity…

Tran Trung Tin, chairman of Phuoc Sang communal People’s Committee said: “In the coming time, Phuoc Sang will further increase its perennial tree-growing area; promote the development of trading-services among the local people; make a plan on land use; speed up the task of making rural roads and focus on building infrastructure…”.
