Price cutting and sale promotion spurred to stimulate purchasing power

Prices under stability

In the first quarter of 2012, consumption price index rose 3.05% from the end of 2011 and 13.68% from the same period of the last year. Overall, prices of essential items increased, owing to price hike of gasoline, petroleum. In the first 3 months of this year, pork item’s purchasing power decreased strongly, owing to worries of banned chemical substances in pork.

Meanwhile, rice price in April is forecasted to have stability or a light increase, owing to increase in export. In addition, price of items of building material and fertilizer are decreasing. 

Price cutting and promotion spurred

To increase purchasing power and lure customers, local supermarkets, trade centers such Citimart, Vinatex, Co.opmart… have set out promotional programs. Accordingly, from April 21 to May 1, Vinatex will offer a 10-50% discount for all items.

On the 16th birthday anniversary, Co.opmart Binh Duong has offered a 49% discount for over 1,500 items. From April 12 to May 9, Metro Binh Duong has launched a 20-50% discount for items of backpack, suitcase, bag and a 49% discount for children fashion item.

Apart from supermarkets, and trade centers, home appliance centers and fashion shops in Thu Dau Mot town will launch promotional programs in the coming time.

Implementing promotional programs on the upcoming public holidays is a good way for retailers to spur purchasing power.
