Province celebrates Lord Buddha’s 2,561st birthday

A ceremony celebrating Lord Buddha’s 2,561st birthday took place at Hoi Khanh pagoda in TDM city on the morning of May 5. Attending the event were Nguyen Huu Tu, Vice-Secretary of provincial Party Committee; Dang Minh Hung, Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee; leaders of sectors, departments, mass organizations together with more than 1,000 Buddhist nuns, monks and followers in the province.

At the ceremony, Most Venerable Thich Hue Thong, Head of provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council delivered a message from the Patriarch of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha. Ceremonial activities were also organized at the pagoda, including incense offering, bathing for the Buddha’s statue, release of pigeons to pray for peace and happiness…

Mr.Hung also spoke highly of contributions by provincial Buddhist Sangha’s Executive Council and Buddhist followers to the local socio-economic development.

On this occasion, provincial leaders, representatives of sectors, departments, mass organizations in the province, leaders of TDM city and Phu Cuong ward presented flowers to Buddhist dignitaries, nuns and monks and wished them a peaceful and happy festive season celebrating Lord Buddha’s 2,561st birthday.

Provincial Red Cross society also offered 30 out of 300 gifts worth VND350,000 each to the poor, the disabled and orphans.
