The provincial Professional Skill Contest 2010 held by the local department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs at the Southern Technology and Agro-forestry Vocational College is one of measures to spur skill development movement, enhance the quality of vocational training, and practice skills for students, train new human resources with high skills for local workforce.

Binh Duong has so far lured over 650 thousand laborers. The locality will need about 900 thousand laborers in 2010, so it is urgent and essential to pay much attention to vocational training, human resources development, labor market information database. Therefore, organizing contests and emulation movements at all levels is very necessary and should be paid attention by functional agencies. Routinely, the provincial professional skill contest is held every 2 years.

The provincial professional skill contest 2010 took place lively and reached high results, spurring skill practice movement among students. Through the contest, students could meet, exchange experiences and excellent contestants would be found out for the upcoming national professional skill contest.

Dinh Van Tung from the Southern Vocational College of Technology and Agro forestry, the runner-up at the contest, said ‘I feel proud to join the provincial professional skill contest 2010. The event helped me enhance my skills’.

The provincial professional skill contest 2010 lured numerous students, up 14% from 2008, showing great attention from leaders of vocational schools. The contest also showed participating units’ well preparations. Many contestants completed their works excellently at the contest.

Teacher Nguyen Tien Dung of Vietnam-Singapore Vocational College said ‘the development of local vocational educational network has reached encouraging results, making premises for further development of the country industrialization and modernization. The professional skill contest is to cater for expanding and developing education and training. With great efforts from managers and vocational schools, we hope that the vocational training progress has been conducting effectively. The results of the contest will be a ruler for students’ ability and be tickets helping them go further’.
