Six-month national target programs on new rural construction, poverty reduction under review

Early August 3, Mai Hung Dung, member of provincial Party Standing Committee, Permanent Vice-Chairman of provincial People’s Committee presided over a meeting with provincial Steering Board of the National Target Programs for the period of 2016-2020 through contents at provincial People’s Committee’s Official Dispatch No.2614/UBND-TH about the local situation of the national target programs on new rural construction and poverty reduction in the first half of 2017.

Under the national target program on new rural construction, the province has so far had 42 out of 49 communes recognized as new rural ones. The province has also mobilized all resources to build new rural areas. Especially, the province’s results in socio-economic infrastructure investment in rural areas have facilitated rural industrial manufacture and services’ development, contributing to generating jobs as well as increasing incomes of rural laborers…

Over the past six months, the province made efforts in realizing the national target program on poverty reduction, contributing to promoting the local socio-economic development. The province spent more than VND573billion on carrying out the program. And as a result, there were 269 households escaping poverty during the period. The whole province now has a total of 3,620 poor households or 1.23% of total and 3,024 near-poor ones or 1.03%.  

Concluding the meeting, Mr.Dung asked for districts, towns and TDM city to strengthen their steering boards on new rural construction and poverty reduction; continue boosting propaganda among people to reach high consensus in realizing the movement of new rural construction. In 2017, they need to focus on building model new rural communes, especially attach special importance to environmental criterion; replicate economic models to raise incomes of locals…
